Sonnet from Fine Lines Literary Journal
Spring 2024 - Volume 33, Issue 1
Hold me tight in your arms at the darkness,
Don’t let my arms slip from around your neck,
Out of the chaos we leave the distress,
Walk for me talk and listen on our trek.
Don’t close your eyes or they may not open,
Don’t ever forget the good deeds that live,
Don’t stop rescuing me from hatred’s sin,
Keep my heart soft and willing to forgive.
When you close your eyes see what you fight for,
Watch me from near and afar like your child,
Don’t let go of good in me your daughter,
Don’t let me wander and stray in the wild.
I want to hear you say that you love me,
Only rings my way a spirit softly.
